Rob's Ramblings

Good afternoon, World! No, I have not dropped off the face of the earth and disappeared from existence. I have just been very busy getting ready for a possible big change in my life. Stay tuned....

We are less than 5 months from Project: Tijuana. As of today, I am 55% funded or $410/$750. I only have $340 left to go. Money continues to come in, as well as my own funds I have been depositing as well. We'll be flying out to California on July 11th, do some training, and spend the week of July 13th-17th ministering to the people of Tijuana. We'll be based out of the orphanage of Colina de Luz, and bring carnivals into the outer regions of Tijuana. The carnivals consist of a bounce castle (of which I am king, LOL), water slide, face painting, balloon animals, hair & makeup, popcorn and punch, and presentation of the Gospel via interpreters. We'll fly home on July 18th. Last year I was so excited at the thought of my first trip, what lay ahead, and how it might change my life. This year, I know what I am going to, and I'm even more excited to get there.  Please pray for:  1) Safe travels for all involved in the group, 2) That all team members are able to get full support raised, and 3) The hearts of the people that we will be ministering to, that their hearts will be open to the Gospel.

I'm also praying for added strength, because immediately after returning home from Tijuana (OK, the next day), we are taking our Junior Highers to a week of camp. Following that, I will spend the weekend recuperating and setting up for VBS and then jumping into a week of VBS.  Crazy? Maybe. But that's just the way the schedule plays out. There are some others that are also in for the 3-week crunch. Following that, I may go home and sleep for a month! LOL.

Spring has sprung! Yeah, right! As the temps dip into the freezing mark, Rob is talking about Spring!! Get real. Let me explain: The growing season has begun for me. I have spent the past week getting seeds into peat pots and into a sunny window with grow lights on them. I have decided on pretty much what I had last year. Tomatoes (8 plants)  watermelons, pumpkins, cucumbers, cantaloupe, and I'll place some marigold plants interspersed amongst these veggies to invite bees to come and pollinate, giving my veggies an extra boost. Those are the seeds I have in the window. I'll put them in the ground when Spring is here (for good). When the weather warms, I'll sow directly into the ground: radishes, corn, and sunflowers. I'm also going to take another stab at my strawberry patch. My garden did not do too well last year. It was the first year gardening in this yard, and I learned a lot from trial and error.  As my seedlings grow, I just hope that the police don't drive down the alley, see my grow lights, and storm the house because they suspect me of growing "wacky weed" in my house. Imagine the headlines: "Sunday School teacher jailed on suspicion of growing marijuana in his home." Yikes!  LOL.

Not much else has been going on in my little world, so you haven't missed much in my absence. Other than that BIG secret development I'm working on, life's pretty drab. Are you intrigued in my big secret? Want to know more? I not telling! Stay tuned. I'm so mean! :-)

Thanks for reading. May God bless you today.
