I apologize for being silent for so long. I haven't posted since last year, and I feel badly about that. Life has been very busy. In my Facebook link, I gave you a bit of a teaser. Here's what's come down over this weekend:
Ever since God called me to missions, things have been falling into place, and God brought something along that I feel He wants me to pursue. I am convinced that God is calling me to pursue a degree in ministry. In other words, I am looking at becoming a pastor to accompany my ministry as a missionary. What's the game plan? I am currently looking at different Christian colleges around the state and in surrounding states that provide correspondence courses and financial aid. If you have some input that might fit the criteria I am looking for, I would be interested in what you might have to suggest. I think that is why God is asking me to wait a while, and that I should fill that time educating myself with a deeper knowledge of The Bible. I do not foresee myself leaving Hutchinson to pursue this ministry opportunity, but all of this is preliminary. I know that I am called into the ministry, but the rest of the details are up in the air. I'll be sure to keep you posted.
The planting season has begun for me. The indoor planting season, that is. I have prepared my peat pots in a sunny window with tomatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumbers, pumpkins, and sunflowers. Since I have never seen honeydew seeds before, I will wait until I find some honeydew plants this Spring and stick them in my garden. I plan to directly sow radishes and corn into the garden when the time is right. I am hoping to have my garden up and running by the end of April. I have been readying a rich tub of compost that consists of fruit and vegetable peels, eggshells, coffee grounds, as well as grass and leaf cuttings from last fall. I'm not sure if the compost will be ready to use by this Spring. If not, it will definitely be ready for the 2017 growing season. Composting takes time.
The baking continues to be slow, but steady. The orders have dropped off considerably due to people sticking to their New Year's resolutions of eating healthy and avoiding sugary snacks, which is what I specialize in. I'm also taking a hit due to Girl Scout cookie sales. So, it's a double whammy. I get the occasional order in from people who want to support the cause. They buy for their grandkids or bring them to family gatherings. I'm hoping sales pick up soon. If you enjoy sweet treats and would like to see what I make, check out my Facebook site "Rob's Homebaked Goods" to see what I offer. Leave a comment or PM me to order.
It's getting late, and I need to get some sleep so that I can be ready to teach Sunday School in the morning. I'll try to be better about posting. Please keep me accountable. Will you please pray for me that God will guide me in the way He wants me to go?
Thanks for reading, and God bless you!
