What a week!

It was an amazing week at Junior Camp this past week! Those who know me well know that I am a firm believer in camp ministries. When you get kids away from TV, video games, and etc, that's when God will move. I am not sure of the exact numbers, but had a few kids come to know Christ as Savior, and several more reaffirming their salvation, or making decisions to live a life more pleasing to God. There were 9 boys in my cabin, and I really enjoyed getting to interact and visit with them. We had a good bunch. The weather stayed calm during the week. It was very hot, so we did a lot of indoor games, and had water abundantly available to them. It did not start raining until camp was over. God held that rain off for us! I came home exhausted and a little sunburned, and after doing laundry and a long nap, I'm ready for the next camp! I could truly make camp ministries a life-long career. I enjoy it that much!  If I have parents of Junior campers reading this blog, you have great kids, and you should be proud! Junior camp was my first big adventure of the summer, and my next one comes in 2 weeks, which is Junior High camp! Pray for me! LOL.  :-)

While I was at camp on Thursday, I noticed on radar that Hutchinson got hit pretty hard with some nasty weather. When I came home, I noticed that some of my corn and sunflowers were laying down from the wind. I'll need to stake those up. The green tomatoes are popping out everywhere! I even found a stray tomato plant, which must have been a seed from last year. That brings my total to 11 tomato plants, the most I've ever had! I found a red cherry tomato, and it sure was good! I'm going to wait a while before inviting people to come out to pick green tomatoes. There a quite a few, but not enough to stand up to last year's demand. Some people didn't get any last year. I want to build up the supply before opening it up.

This was just a quick little blip of an update before I get to go flip burgers and dogs for the Monarchs baseball game. I'm grateful to have this job which helps me get through the dry summer months of no school paycheck. God does provide. Thanks for reading, and God bless!

I'm still alive!

For the first time in quite a while, life has slowed down enough for me to sit down and blog. It seems as though I am constantly on the go, with my house as a place to merely eat and sleep before I'm on the go again. Let me fill you in on what's going on....

My mission trip to Tijuana is set in stone. I purchased my plane ticket a few weeks ago, with the 1st week in August being the official date for the trip. I am so pumped! This will be my third trip to Tijuana, and I'm certainly not expecting it to be my last. It is because of you that I am able to get there. Many of you bought goodies from my Rob's Homebaked Goods business. When you paid, many of you added on to the amount owed, as a gift. People donated to the Mexico fund I have through my church. I received handshakes with money pressed into my hand. The fact that God has brought these funds my way is proof that I am where He wants me to be. I truly believe that He would not bless me I were not following His will. I'm asking that you pray for my upcoming trip. For safety, and for changed lives. That God would continue to bring in the funds for future trips and for my eventual move to the San Diego/Tijuana area. That my baking business would gain a stronger following, bringing in more funds for Operation Mexico. Thanks, prayer warriors!

In other news, my garden is thriving! I planted 10 tomato plants, expecting the typical 3 or 4 plants to die. However, all 10 of them are taking off! I have 1 cherry tomato plant, while the other 9 plants are various varieties of the regular sized tomatoes. We had almost a solid week of rain, which was a large contributor to the tomatoes' health. My radishes also looked very good, and I've already brought in a small crop of those. The corn looks good, as do the sunflowers. I'm praying for my vining plants: Pumpkins, cucumbers, watermelon, and cantaloupe. I've not had much good luck with those in the past. I'm posting a picture of my garden in a rainstorm, with the tomatoes in the forefront, so you can see how much rain we received.

If my tomatoes continue to thrive the way they are, I'll have tons of tomatoes to give away. I already have a number of green ones popping out. When I'm ready for people to come, I'll announce it here first. If I still have some to give away after that, then I'll post it on Facebook. It pays to read my blog! :-)

I promise that I'll keep a better watch on my blog, and update more. I truly enjoy letting you know what is happening, and it's just a matter of making time to blog it. Thanks for reading, and I pray God's blessing on you. Have a nice weekend!
